Who is
Little Louie?
Little Louie Man came into my life unexpectedly, and at a perfect time. The “great recession” had just started, I was laid off for the first time in my life, and Little Louie was a funny little puppy that made me smile.
After I would finish searching for a job for the day, Little Louie and I would work on quilts. We turned the scraps from those quilts into pot holders, placemats, and other items to give away to family and friends. These folks liked the quality of our work………so we started a little craft business.
It was not hard to talk about our little business, as Little Louie Man was the President, and Chief Creative Officer. Me…just a simple employee. Customers loved the concept, and that Little Louie was in charge of all things color. Louie made it so much easier to talk about how our business was doing, and what people could do to support him.
Now……. you might be wondering how did Little Louie and I moved from a business dealing with fabric, to one based on glass? I have been creating with glass for over thirty years, but never "hot" glass. Fused glass is similar to stained glass. You have to break the glass with precision, follow a pattern, learn how the glass interacts with the materials you use with it. It’s also VERY different. There are things that happen once the kiln lid is closed, that no one can explain. For example: how did that glass eyeball on the bird, move to the tail of that fish? Weird things happen inside the kiln, and its part of the surprise every time you open the kiln lid.
